Alzheimer’s disease was founded first by Dr. Alois Alzheimer and named after him. During his examination of a woman patient, he noticed several brain disorders and changes in her brain tissues. It is when he found out about this deadly disease.
Alzheimer’s disease is a mental illness that, with time, demolishes your memory, thought process, cognitive skills, and in the end, your capacity to do daily functions or activities. As long as in most cases, this disease occurs mostly with aging, which means elderly people get attacked easily compared to the young ones, but Alzheimer’s is not a common disease. But the greatest risk of getting this disease is increasing age. Alzheimer’s patients are mainly those aged 60 and above.
There are two factors of Alzheimer’s disease:
Early or younger on-set: the symptoms of this type occur in people between their 30s and 60s and are sporadic cases.
Late on-set: people above the age of 60 or 65 get a high risk of being attacked by this type of Alzheimer’s disease.
Alzheimer’s is an intensifying disease that gets worse with passing time. People with Alzheimer’s have lost their memory in recent years, but in the last stages of Alzheimer’s, patients lose their ability to talk, think, or even are not able to do regular tasks; they can’t even respond.
An older adult over 60 with Alzheimer’s can live 4 to 8 years, but in the early stage and depending on the symptoms, one can live over 20 years also
Symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease
With increasing age, every part of the human body gets weakened, and especially in older age majority of the human part and organs get slow to work. Same as with the mind or mental processes, older people experience weak memory and other changes in cognitive skills with their growing age.
Alzheimer’s disease often attacks your brain, which generally occurs in many mental illnesses like increased memory loss, confused mind, low capacity to
perceive new things, not able to think logically, and not able to respond to the environment.
Does Alzheimer’s have any cure?
Alzheimer’s disease has no treatment or curing methods available. But it can be treated in its early stages to prevent it from worsening and make the lives of Alzheimer’s patients better and provide them quality care to support them in this fight.
Doctors are still finding and searching for ways to cure or prevent this disease, even a treatment to stop the development of Alzheimer’s.
Sum-up
Alzheimer’s disease is one of the top lists of deadly diseases like cancer, dementia, advanced liver disease, and many more, which have no proper cure, and the only ending to this disease is death. Yet, just like other diseases, the treatment for this one is also in search of stopping or controlling Alzheimer’s. However, people can only take medication or some relevant drug to fight against this disease and get relieved for some time.
